about
I am a Yarn maker & designer interested in the flux between craft & art of handspun yarn. I spin yarn as a creative pursuit, the yarn inspires the outcome for what it will become. Be it a beanie, scarflette, crochet wire jewellery, each item will be as individual as the wearer.
From fleece to fashion, making yarn is a fusion between form & function. Wool provides warmth, a natural living energy that calms our senses.. wearing wool becomes a tactile & textural experience for the wearer. With this impulse I take the traditional process of handspinning yarn, work creativity & instinctively with the process to sculpt new outcomes for yarn designs, turning an ancient craft into modern design.
Handspun yarn designs are made in Limited Editions or Series. Working predominantly in Certified Organic Australian merino wool, other raw fibres are sourced from around the world and prepared & dyed by hand.
With a BA(Visual Arts) photography major in 1995, interest in textiles rekindled during early motherhood. I enjoy pushing my own creative limits when spinning each new skein, accentuating the unique, ecclectic qualities of my art yarn designs. I instruct creative spinning workshops in Australia and have been selling yarn & fiber creations on etsy.com since 2006.
